Input Please
Hello All;
I live in the far northern (true northern Ca). I have been trying to find a local (less than 1/2 hour driving time) Adoptive/Adoptee Support group. One does not exist, so out of necessity I have decided to bite the bullet and start one myself. I have called all the local Foster/Adoption agencies, Social Services, CPS, Crisis Center and any other services you can think of and have received positive feedback and they have agreed to post fliers for such a group. I have secured meeting places on both side of our town for twice a month meetings. As an Adoptee and Amom I need this support, my children ages 9,10, and 11 would benefit as well. I want to include Foster Parents and Children as they have the experienced the same losses, duh isn't that where lately most adoptions come from. Sorry just a bout of reality. Yes, I would request anonimity and confidentiality. I know this would not be easy with children. I however believe they are probably who need this most. 1. Is this a good/bad idea? 2. What should the flier say? 3. What topics should we address? 4. Should I do a separate group for adults and children? 5. Would you attend such a group if it were available? 6. Would you allow your children to attend such a group? Please give me your honest opinion and feelings. Gavriela |
