At what age?
At what age did you feel comfortable allowing your little one to be in the bathtub without a constant vigilant adult in the room. I am not talking NO Monitoring or even out of earshot, but you walking away and letting your little one play.
Bathtub time was a huge reading time (me reading them listening) for us but over time they wanted to do more playing in the water and the reading time is separate. So we have been allowing each child alone bathtime and they love it. I know also that this probably is more emotional age related than chronological age, but I have never read this in child parenting books.

My girls were around 4 years old when we started leaving the room for a moment or two while they were bathing. That has increased and now, at almost 6, they do almost the whole routine on their own. They need a little help with washing their hair - in large part because they'll use an ENTIRE bottle of shampoo if not reigned in. Other than that, they do a pretty great job.

My DD is almost 4 now, and I am able to go across the room, or leave the bathroom for a minute. Of course I am always listening for her, but she is doing a great job and staying safe. She loves the water and loves to swim, so she knows she wants to keep her face out of it as much as possible (by her will).

DD was about 4...and now she likes to shower alone...and she is 5.5. For DS...who will be 4 in July...I will leave for a minute...but I usually will be talking to him. With DD I used to ask her to sing when I left so I knew she was OK. Both of my kids LOVE bath time.
