Question circumcising our preemie

We are so thrilled to announce to the world we have finally been placed with our beautiful new son. He was born 8/01/05 at 32 weeks gestation and now weighs only 5 lbs 13 ozs. He has not been circumcised because of his low birth weight and wanted to wait until he started gaining a good amount of weight before they would. My delima is that both my husband and first son are circumcised and we thought we wanted our baby to be as well, but knowing what we know now makes the decision hard. I am concerned that it may be an unnecessary procedure with unnecessary risks. My question is.... Do you think it would confuse him in the future that both his daddy and brother circumcised and he isn't? I just don't want to cause my baby any unnecessary pain. Please help!!!!!

I think you can teach him and educate him that some people are different..... after all you're not circumcised!!

I don't think it is that big of a deal, either. My DH isn't and neigher is DS, but at 20+ months old, he has yet to "see" DH. I would discuss it with your ped and get his/her opinion, but go with your gut...little one certainly has been through enough in his short life, IMO.

Congratulations on your new blessing!!!!

Continued blessings to your family and your new little one. I understand about your concerns, I really do, but there are many ways in which we all are different. You can tell him that given the info you had when your first son was born you chose circumcision, but given what you were told when he was born you chose against it to keep him intact. You made both choices with their best interests in mind, based on what you knew at the time and on each of their health and well being. This won't be the last decision that you make that will be different for your boys.
