I was wondering.....
Do you iron your children's clothes before putting them away? or... Do you wait until your children need to wear them before you iron? I have usually been an iron before wearing person and that worked great with one child. Now that I have two children, the ironing before wearing is taking up valuable time when I am getting them dressed to go out somewhere. So, how do others handle it? Maybe I'm just a slacker and should iron right away. Share please.....

Sorry, Amom, I'm not going to be much of a help either. I have yet to iron any of Xiomara's clothes. If I might say so, she's one of the better dressed children I've seen. I do my laundry very carefully to avoid the need for ironing.

Okay, I'll stand up and admit it - I'M AN IRONER!!! However, with four boys, I don't iron all of their clothes as they come out of the dryer - just as we need them.

OK for me I iron school clothes as the come out of the dryer. Both my kids wear uniforms to school so we have 5 shirts, 5 shorts or skirts and 5 pants for each child for school. They can only wear khaki bottoms to school so at the end of the week I do a load of bottoms and iron them. Play clothes I don't iron. Clothes they wear for going out in I iron as needed usually. LOL I guess we all have our own method. I think it's an age old question.

ROFLMAO AMom! I have NO KIDS yet and I still can't iron to save my life, bless your heart. I will be purchasing all wash-n-wear for my little one to be, and reserve the adorable but wrinkly linen and poplin outfits for all my friends. ![]()

What's an iron?
![]() Shoot, I'm lucky if we get DD's clothes hung up and put away. Most of the time they're in a laundry basket on the floor! Honestly, though, most of what she wears doesn't need ironing anyway--it's all knit. I think I might have had to iron one dress that stayed in the dryer too long. Heck, I don't iron most of _my_ clothes (hanging them up in a steam bathroom works great. There is some stuff you can spray on clothes to get the wrinkles out w/o ironing.

I"m a non-ironer too! But I own one
I use the steam trick of Christine's (spray/ toss in dryer a few mins). I also get to wear jeans to work so that helps. Once out of the dryer, hang everything up flat or just on hangers. Let go of the iron! Also remember: once worn, it will wrinkle. Especially on kids. Maia

The only time my iron is taken out of the closet is when it is ABSOLUTELY necessary to press a hem when I am trying to fit it for sewing. Usually I just make sure to buy fabric that don't need it.
I never iron my kids clothes--you wouldn't be able to tell in 10 minutes anyway . However, I have been known to throw them in the dryer if they're really bad. |

Oh mom, you are funny! I do not own an iron and haven't since I closed my vintage clothing store many many years ago; even then, I only ironed the merchandise, never my own clothes. This is why I LOVE polyester!

Iron......ROFLMAO!!!
IF I get the laundry done..which means tracking it down thoughout the house ( I have people here that spew off their socks where-ever they might be)...gathering the four loads, separating it ( NO the cute little basket with three sections does not mean anything to anyone except me) dragging to the washer and manage to get in the dryer all in one day..an amazing feat!! Than I must drag it back up the two flights of stairs, back to the bedroom where it began. Now this usually does not happpen in one day..as so I spend a few days begging either hubbie or oldest child to "get me the laudry from the basement" so I can fold.as I am at work all day...but they don't..so the CLEAN laundry goes from waiting to be folded on my bed..to being pushed off the bed by the two little terrors. They proceed to climb in it, bury themselves in it, and especially like to throw the socks about the room. After about two days, I finally get around to it..which means I must gather it up again, dig out a bunch of it from under the bed, and get down to serious folding as the DIRTY stuff is piling up again. When it gets real bad..I don't even bother to fold...I am happy if it gets in a drawer in the right room, sometimes a basket in the correct child's room will do. Iron..hahahaha. And I don't match socks either..they live in a basket by the bed. No one wears socks anyway unless they go out. Now everyone should feel much better about their laundry habits. Do I get the bad laundry management award?? |
