I have been teaching my 4 year old how to write her name; "Bethany". This afternoon I over heard my 11 year old daughter coaching her (they were both at the kitchen table drawing. Bethany wrote "B-e-t" then asked her sister for help. Her sister said, "Next is "h", he is the tall man with the rainbow...now cames an "a" the circle with a stick...next "n" he is the short man with a rainbow...then last is "y" it is the smile with a tail." And Bethany understood and completed her name without any assistance on her pencil! I just thought that was such a creative way to communicate!
