Hi Iam looking into the possibility of adopting from Panama. We had our dossier ready for Guatemala but it is quite unclear when the problems there will be resolved. We are interested in adopting as young a child as possible. I saw on one site that the mother had to be no older than 40 in order to adopt an infant. I also noticed that the World Partners site indicates only that the maximum age is 48 for the adoptive mother and 52 for the adoptive father and that parents over 45 will be matched with an older child. My husband and I are 42. If any one knows about this please let met know. Thank You. Carol

As of the posting of a Panamanian article on adoption on Dec. 23, 2002, there are no age limits for adoption. But whether the DNA (Direccion Nacional de Adopciones) matches you with an infant, toddler, or "older" child, is another story. These age limits are agency rules, not Panama's.
