I adopted after 40
When we adopted our first son I was 41 and my second son at 48. My sons are now 7 years old and 16 months. I still have the energy to care for them.
I say if you really want to adopt after 40....go for it. You know yourself best. Madelyn |

Hi Madelyn, If you don't mind that I ask, did you adopt your children domestically or internationally? We are trying to adopt and keep getting steered to the International direction. Thanks, Darlene

Darlene,
We adopted domestically. Our first adoption was thought Catholic Social Ministires. Even though they were so wonderful I don't think they are doing adoptions anymore. The cost was about 3,000 dollars but the wait was 5 years. Now, that was in 1990. A lot has change in adoption since than. Now our second son I did a web pages and put it in the internet. Our son's birth mother found us and she did admit she would of liked us younger. But she like us and placed her baby with us. The cost was under 5000 dollars. If you go this route let me know and I'll give you some good advise. We couldn't afford to go international, otherwise we would of done it. This is good if you want a specific gender. If you have the money for international I would go for it. If you like to talk more you can email me at mholmes899@aol.com Good luck. Madelyn P.S. My friend adopted from China two time. She is single. ![]() |
