Sad but funny at the same time

I just have to share this moment.....

Hubby and I are "older" adoptive parents waiting for our daughter from China. DH is 50 and I am 52....and the wait continues to increase. We started the process in June of 2006 and have been officially waiting for 16 months and it looks like we will still be waiting this time next year. So......it is really depressing and we just keep hanging on, knowing that we will hopefully have our daughter one day.

Will we be "old"......yes.....but we are not giving up now!

So....our Saturday morning routine is to go to McDonald's for breakfast/lunch before heading out to grocery shop. We are ordering our breakfast/lunch when it just hit me.....when we get our daughter we will probably be ordering 3 Happy Meals......one for her and one for each of us....along with our senior coffees!!!!! Cause you know....as you get older your appetite shrinks! We laughed and are still laughing about it. But hey...if you can't laugh now who knows what life will bring later.

I hope things happen for you very soon and your daughter is home!

My DH is 53 (I just turned 40) and we get a kick out of the fact that it won't be long til he can get Senior's rate at hotels where kids stay free. I'm the only expensive one in the family then, lol! And FWIW, I don't eat much more than a happy meal myself already!

Bless you as you wait...

How true!!!! But I'm gonna hope you have your little one in your arms sooner than that!!!! God Bless you for hanging in there soo long and being strong about it.

As far as age....ahhh well. I remember getting my first 'notice' from AARP. (Dh's birthday is only three days after mine, and we're the same age---both now 51.)
I remember thinking, Wow! Guess we're really OLD now, huh? But hey, you're thinking young, and you both obviously have a lot of patience and vitality. The waiting's the worst part and you're handling it with humor and grace!!!

Keep us posted and we'll all hope for a sooner placement!!!

Most Sincerely,

Linny

Hey Linny

I wish you could quit calling yourself "older" haven't you heard 50's are the new 30's? I am 41 so i can't bear to think of 50 as older

On a much more serious note, I wish you well and appreciate how supportive you are of all of us

I'm a senior???

I was just saying that I'm probably the only person I know that can legally order off of the senior meal at Bob Evans and then order a kids meal for my 2 year old!!! I'm looking at that as a POSITIVE thing (but it's getting harder and harder)

I feel being the "older" parents is the BEST. We can go through our 2nd childhood with our kids. Both drop food on our clothes and can't see the crumbs dropped on the floor. Our minds wonder and they have the attention span of a gnat.
