Older parents - agency recommendations?

Hello everyone,

We are 52 & 40 with 3 bio sons. We have been pursuing international, thinking that we were too old to be picked domestically.

However, after a 3rd country switch (due to program closures, etc.), we were just at the point of dossier translation for Kazkakhstan, when it seems that they have begun rejecting parents over 50.

We want so badly to adopt a daughter and at this point we are waiting to get the final word on whether there is any more hope with our international agency.

I have spoken to one woman at Adoption Network Law Center, but can't seem to get any feedback about them. If you can recommend (or discourage) any agency choice, I would be so grateful.

Regards,

Laurel

Hi Laurel,

I'm sorry I don't have any advice on agencies that are better for older parents, but I do know that there are resources for researching agencies.

There is a yahoo group called "Adoption Agency Research". (go to yahoo.com, click on groups and search).

Also if you google "adoption agency research", it will find you lots of websites and ways to research your choice.

Good luck!

I was 50 and husband was 54 when we adopted domestically. Please contact me personally at: stef@dollar-law.com so that we can communicate about this and I can give you a recommendation.
