Newbie in 40 Group

Hello, I am Susan, 41 my husband, 36 and I have been married for 15 years and we have a 5 year old daughter who was adopted from Guatemala. We are in the process of adoptiong again, we're doing Domestic adoption this time and sometimes I find myself thinking am I crazy-41 and a newborn coming into our home-heehee. I had a Hysterectomy in April 07 and that plays a factor in my thinking as well as I do not feel at all like I did before the surgery-in ways it has been great, would not change having it and in ways there are new things I am dealing with now.

It wil be nice to see how you all feel and how things are going for you.

Welcome! I am 43 and have a 2 year old. So, similar age difference.
I am having so much fun with him. I just had my hip replaced 5 months ago, so I've had some physical limitations that hopefully will resolve soon. I definitely have a little less energy than I would have 15 years ago, but I more than make up for that with patience and apprecation for everything (at least I think I do).
I say go for it!

I am 40 with an 18 year and 13 year old (bio) and adopted 13 month old. I too have maybe a little less energy but a whole lot more appreciation and patiences. What makes me happy is not thoughts of "when the kids leave we can travel." what makes me happy is "I hope I am always blessed with children in my home." Eventually that will hopefully be grandkids. I don't see me being 50 and bringing in a newborn. lol. Good luck with your upcoming adoption.

HI! DH and I will both be 41 in March. We have two bio boys ages 13 and 17 and a beautiful daughter, adopted who is 3 1/2. We're done, unless of course God has a bigger surprise than the last! Hopefully in a few years we'll have grandkids running through the house.

Welcome!!!

I am hmmm....let me think...oh yeah 44 and dh is 47. We have a bio son that is 7 and our youngest son we adopted (domestic) is 3.

I would adopt again in a heartbeat but not in our near future at this point. With that said I will not give up the hope that one day we can adopt again.

Happy that you have joined our fantastic group of ladies and gentlemen and hope to hear more!

I'm 46 and my husband is 45. We will hopefully be bringing our baby girl home from Guatemala in a few weeks and we currently have a 27, 25 and 19 year old. While I may have had more energy then, I feel very energized right now knowing that I have a second chance at mommihood. My husband and I both feel that we are so much better prepared to be parents now than we were the first time through. For a matter-of-fact, we hope to begin our paperwork for adoption #2 this Fall and while that will probably be the last adoption for us (hubby doesn't think he can go through it a 3rd time), it is going to be a wonderful experience.

I'm 46 and my dw is 10 years my senior. We just had the placement of a baby girl (turned 3mo last Saturday). We were not expecting an infant this time around, but God has His plans.

So now we have two boys (7yr and 3 1/2 yr) and one girl (3mo).

Welcome Debbie and Libby!

I don't know much about adoption laws in each state(other than ours). You need to talk to people and agencies to find out. Keep us posted!

Excited for you both!

I'm 43, with 22 year old bio and 2 1/2 old adopted son. My son was actually beneficial to my health. Shortly after is placement, I joined the gym at work and have lost about 40 pounds.

We're not our parents 40. I find is rather common to see parents (our age) with young children. All my neighbors are in there 40s with young children below 5 or younger.
