Any SDA's out there???? just curious

I know Seventh-Day-Adventists are under the Christian umbrella of denominations, but sometimes it's nice to connect with other people that go to church on Saturday and that might know family members or what now. Anybody? I'll probably crosspost this somewhere else as well. Have a good day.

so how do you like church in Pennsylvania??? I attend medium to large churches because well, Socal is blessed with many SDAs and schools.

My mother would like us to move somewhere in Pennsylvania or the country in NJ because her family is there and we just lost my grandmother, but now that I'm adopting (my family is very supportive of me adopting as a single person) I'm really thinking about schools and academies and such. I'm an avid believer in Christian education even if I work in the public schools and since I'm hispanic I'm not an avid believer in sending a 14 year old to boarding school even though I know many of my friends that have been out of the house during the school year since 9th grade....that's just too young for me.

I'm also so spoiled with our church choices out here so when I visit my family in NJ/NYC it's a little disheartening not to have so many choices. I always tell my family that we're spoiled in southern ca.

I love living in Pennsylvania. There is a big choice in churches and schools. All of my bio-kids went to Adventist schools and the oldest even went to boarding schools. They would all tell you that it was the best education that they had. My 15 year old attended school until she was 7 but with the special needs they have,we felt that the public schools would be best for the 4 that I adopted. It is sad because we have 2 schools in the area and 3 churches to choose from.

One of my favorite pastors left us to go out to Bakersfield California, I felt bad when he left because he was a real people pastor.

I have since changed churches, but I love my church although not really knowledgeable about foster care and adoption.

Anyway,I am so glad that I have met you....

that's cool. I actually live in a good school district and my home school is a very nice one and aesthetically pleasing so I wouldn't be heartbroken if I needed the special services from a public school....hey I know about IEPs, I write them almost daily, and work with special ed. kids.

I'm also an only child and close to my family. I live a mile from my parents...I have aunts/uncles and cousins close by as well. I've been to Pennsylvania before, it's very pretty!

What are the academies there?

My son went to Blue Mountain Academy (BMA) but there is also Pine Forge Academy. Both great schools !!

My kids now go to Lower Dauphin Schools, they are one of the best here and great for their needs.

It is nice here but the weather is now changing and I for one do not like the cold.

ha ha ha...that is my one thing. I don't do well with cold weather either. Oh well.

I went to La Sierra Academy and although it's still close by the other three academies closer to me are

Loma Linda Academy
Mesa Grande Academy
Redlands Academy

all within 12 miles from my house....amazing huh?

That is really something. I have heard of Loma Linda a lot and I hear it is excellent.

When I think of Loma Linda I also think about the Big Franks, oh I love those things!!!!
