Here is the new scoop. The conference call to determine parents of a sib of 3 will be Mon. We have some plusses they are: live in same state as children (no one else does), and he is of the same Native American Tribe as them, there are no children in the home, and I am unable to have any.
So here is the delema: As of last week fiance was fired from work. Short version, on WC and couldn't work all day, told a supervisor was leaving, that supervisor now says not sure if did. OK, so EEOC , Family Leave Act and American with Disabilities is involved. His only source of income will be unemployment and WC. I remain full time employment. Was going to start daycare, but not now. Is this going to hurt us? Hopefully soon to me amom to almost 9 5 1/2 almost 3 |

It could. I wouldn't mention it to anyone but your own worker though, until the decision has been made. That way, if you don't get the kids, you'll know that it was for another reason.
Our situation changed before our first staffing meeting too - I went from part-time to full-time, and my husband changed jobs. I was really worried that this would affect our chances, so I didn't mention it until we had met the kids! It was a real nonissue though - all that stress for nothing. I think that everyone realizes that things happen in people's lives and that the homestudy isn't always 100% accurate. Now that we have the kids, I'm a full-time stay at home mom. Things do change! ![]()

my situation changed too
I went from stay at home mom and graduate student to full time employed as a teacher. I was concerned that this would affect our placement, however, my worker said she does not have to update the homestudy for like a year or something, so it stands as written for now. She says if we get any real bites she will inform the kid's worker of our changes, but she does not think it will affect placement. Many, many adoptive families have both parents working. If only stay-at homes adopted there wouldn't be very many adoptions going on!
Good luck! Happy |

Wish I had good news.Found out today that our SW never submitted our homestudy to the boys worker so we were never even considered. Next time I guess I will have to call the day before and the day that everything is do to make sure it is done. Boy has this been a learning experience.Thank you for your input and advice. |

Where I am from we are inguraged to send our homestudies in to the children's workers ourselves then you know they got them. Plus most SW, DHS workers all have email and you can contact them that way too. There a many, many, many kids out there just waiting for you guys to take home and make them part of your family. Have faith. God will make it happen.
