Hi! Saw you were asking about adopting a deaf child. No I didn't adopt one. But my husband and I have a son who is 16 and is deaf since birth. If you do adopt and want to know anything about deafness just e-mail me and would be glad to e-mail back. We are blessed since he can hear some with his hearing aids...and is verbal, and also a four point student in a "regular" public school setting. How I saw your post is that I was adopted at birth. There is a beautiful deaf girl on the NC photolistings. She is, I think, 7 years old, AA, and named Tameeka. Look her up!

Are there any particular agencies that "specialize" in the adoption of Deaf children? If so, I'd like to look into them.

There is a listing somewhere of waiting deaf children. I beleive it's called Deaf adoption news service, or something like that. You could probably find it if you search.
Also I know that there is an agency that works in Liberia with an orphanage for the deaf. They have several deaf children available. Just look for children concerned.
