Hoping to adopt

It sounded like we were committing a crime trying to find a child. The private agencies don't do the finger printing and MAP clases that are required to adopt older kids that are in foster care. What are we suppose to do????? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I am currently in the process of international adoption, so I am more uninformed about domestic adoptions. Just thought I'd try to help though. God Bless!!!

KEEP YOU CHIN UP,KEEP WORKING AT IT,ADOPTION LIKE MOST OF THE SOCIAL WORK SPECTRUM IS A BIG MONEY GAME.
EVERY TIME A KID COMES INTO PROTECTIVE CUSTODY OR FOSTER CARE OR ESPECIALLY TREATMENT CARE,DOLLAR SIGNS ARE SEEN LIKE PAINTINGS OF ANGELS ON THE CATHEDRAL CEILING!EVERY TIME A KID GETS ADOPTED,MONEY FROM UNCLE SAM,GRANT MONEY AND SOCIAL WORKERS CASELOAD AND FUNDS GO DOWN,THATS WHY THE LIMITLESS HOOPS ARE THERE FOR YOU TO JUMP THROUG,PROFESSIONALS HOPING YOU'LL GIVE UP. TRY ADOPTING PRIVATELY OR THRU AN AGENCY LIKE HOLT INTERNATIONAL WHO DON'T PUR DOLLARS IN FRON OF THE KIDS SEEKING A FOREVER HOME. THOSE KIDS WILL BE BETTER ADJUSTED AND NOT STONED ON PSYCHODELIC DRUDS LIKE RITALIN AND OTHERS THAT 80% PLUS OF THE KIDS AVAILABLE IN DCFS OFFICES ARE,THEY CALL IT ADD,I CALL IT MAKING THE BOYS QUIET SO THE FOSTER PARENTS DON'T HAVE TO USE MUCH IN THE WAY OF DISCIPLINE. GOOD LUCK, REX BULLINGTON,BSW RETIRED SOCIAL WORKER |

If you're still looking for direction, maybe contact the State Adoption Specialist in your area. Each state has one, typically located in the capital city.
Best wishes! |

State agencies often only place kids within their county for the first six months to a year. Generally, they allow you to expand your options after that.
Although I agree with Mr. Bullington about the over drugged kids, don't give up on older kids. They need homes and parents to get them off all those meds. I have some really great kids I wouldn't have if I'd given up. |
