Hi I am new here and have been reading awhile. My husband and I were recently licensed for foster/adopting and may have a match. Two sisters K4 and A8. I have been reading tons on older child adoptiion and will probably have more questions as we learn more about the girls. I just can't wait to learn more and meet them. We don't have any other children just 2 dogs and a cat. We've been waiting a long time for kiddos and are really excited to finally hear something from our sw.

That's excellent! Is this your first referral? That one is always the most exciting! My husband and I are in the same boat as you, less the cat, waiting to find our kids. We have had some ups and downs and came pretty close to having two little girls a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, it didn't work out and we were pretty devastated. However, when we met with one of the girls at her foster home, we also met another 10 yr old girl we'll call T. We could see she would be a handful but both of us wished that we could adopt her as well. Now, a few weeks later, we are waiting for more information on T, hoping that we can adopt her! She stole our hearts and I can't help but think that we were brought down that path so we would end up meeting her. Waiting is definately the hardest part for us. I can't even imagine how hard it must be for the kids. T has been in the same foster home for three years now after a disrupted adoption. I get ticked when I think of how long she has had to wait...it's like they gave up on placing her. She isn't listed anywhere, our worker has never heard of her but her foster parents were told that the county was working on finding her a home. Hopefully, your kids will find their way home to you and ours to us...SOON!!

My husband and I are in the final stages of finishing our homestudy, and I am so anxious to have school age siblings in our three cat house. I can only pray that we will not have to wait a year to find a match. How long did you wait from the time that your homestudy was completed? Is that the norm? Good luck!
