Question Getting to know you...

I thought it would be nice to get to know a few people interested in adopting older children. This thread seems pretty quiet for the most part, so I'm hoping to liven things up with some questions. Come on, don't make me hunt you down.

What age children have you adopted or are you waiting to adopt? 18months to 12 years

Married, single, significant other? Married

Domestic or International or both? Domestic

Age category (don't answer if you don't want to), 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80^? I'm almost 30 and DH is 37

Isn't this fun? Come on it is too! How about a couple more?

Hobbies anyone? I love to garden, crochet, a little scrapbooking, a few crafts, yard sales, hiking, fishing, snorkeling when I can, and of course net surfing

Okay a fun one, at least I think so, what was your favorite ice cream man treat? Chocolate Eclair Bar, I still get them sometimes on the weekends when I'm at home

Who's up for it next?

What age children have you adopted or are you waiting to adopt? Adopted my son at age 4 two years ago. Our original age range was sibling group of up to 3 ages 3-8. We hope to adopt again, but not for a few years.

Married, single, significant other? Married

Domestic or International or both? We adopted through the fostercare system.

Age category (don't answer if you don't want to), 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80^? DH is 30 and I'm 32.

Isn't this fun? Come on it is too! How about a couple more?

Hobbies anyone? Is posting on forums a hobby? Seriously, I scrapbook and garden.

Okay a fun one, at least I think so, what was your favorite ice cream man treat? Astro Pop! I remember they were HUGE and tasted awesome. The new ones they sell aren't as good.

Blessings,
Jenny

What age children have you adopted or are you waiting to adopt? We always get homestudy approval for anything under age 10. Our first came home at 7.5 and we're currently waiting on a little one who turns 4 next week

Married, single, significant other? Married

Domestic or International or both? International

Age category (don't answer if you don't want to), 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80^? We would both fall in the 20-29 category, the upper parameter of it at this point though

Hobbies anyone? reading, writing, crochet for me, embroidery, cross-stitch and collecting trains for DH

Okay a fun one, at least I think so, what was your favorite ice cream man treat? Bomb pops, and we're properly indoctrinating all 4 of the children to these as well. But, there's no ice cream truck in our town, so we have to buy them at the grocery store.

I just can't believe more folks have not replied here, what's up with that??

I know more people out there are adopting older children, are they all so busy with their kids that they don't have time to come here and chat with us? How am I supposed to learn about all of this if I can't find anyone to ask questions to? I'm really not even sure what to ask yet, as we have not brought our kids home, but I know I'm just gonna have a million of them.

I think I just get anxious and start worrying before things even happen, after all we don't even know what age of children will be coming to us yet. I'm just one of those people who likes to plan and organize and prepare, you know? I admit I've got a little OCD, but hey, it keeps me busy and my mind alert. I have a very difficult time taking things as they come and waiting patiently, ha, don't even know the meaning of the word.

I guess I'll keep reading posts and try to learn from all the veterans. I just wanted to meet others adopting older kiddos because so many here are in the baby game. Hope to continue getting to know more of you!

What age children have you adopted or are you waiting to adopt? We adopted a sibling group of 4, 3 boys and a girl. They were 5,4,3&2 at time of placement.

Married, single, significant other? Married

Domestic or International or both? domestic foster care

Age category - I'm 35 & dh is 42

Hobbies anyone? Is laundry considered a hobby? LOL!
I USED to have hobbies! When I have time....swimming, reading, writing, travelling. Not a crafty person at all, which is quite apparent when it comes time to iron on all the badges for cubscouts & brownies....

Okay a fun one, at least I think so, what was your favorite ice cream man treat? Ohhh....it would have to be either the bomb pop or the drumstick. And don't forget the razzle dazzle gum eventhough it's not ice cream. In "those days" though, the ice cream man was the only one who had that gum. I'm old!

Honu - funny about hunting us all down because we are "too busy" to post! LOL! You are well on your way to becoming a forum stalker!
