Want to adopt ohio child live in NY
My husband and I found a beautiful little girl on the Adopt Ohio web page and We are not sure how to go about adopting her. We submitted an interest form. Here in NY we are Respite foster parents and have had the Home study, background check, and Foster/Adoptive class for this. Can this be used to adopt this girl? and where do I go from here? She is in a foster home thru the state of ohio in Mercer Co. Please Help with any info.

hello
Your homestudy from your state should suffice, but I believe it is up to each state individually what, if any, additional documentation they may need.
Putting in the interest forms (in my opinion) are not very helpful because they are too slow. Also, I do not get a lot of response from them. Your best option is to call them directly. If you are interested in a younger child, contact them quickly. The SWs get inundated with homestudies and sometimes make the cut-off date for acceptance shorter. Blessings, Mary |
