I was born 11/23/72. I have been told by an search angel that this is my birth record and it states that I was born in Charlotte, NC and that my birth mother was from Wilkes County, NC. She was 16 years old when I was born and in the 10th grade. The birth father was supposedly around 18 years old and worked in a factory of some sort.

My adoption was handled by Wilkes County DSS and Attorney Lewis Alexander, SR. it was a private adoption. The doctor also involved was a Dr. Seth Beale I believe, he was my family's doctor up until his death in the 70's I beleive. I am not sure if the lawyer is still alive.

I was never sure of where exactly I was born. Now according to the search angel it was in Charolette and that is about all I have to go on.

I also know that I was in foster care for a while with an older copule. For how long I do not know.

I live in Pennsylvania now. So I do not have access to the library to look in the yearbooks etc of the years before and after my birth. I was told this would be a gopod place to start. My adopted parents were Willie James "Jim" Mathis and Nellie Sue Hemric Mathis. My adopted daddy is now deceased. I have very little contact with my adopted mother.

I would like to find my birth mom, or dad and any siblings or aunts and uncles etc...I do not want to disrupt lives I just want to know how they are , if they think about me etc who i look like etc...I don't want to be a disappointment to them I worry about this all the time. I would like to write a letter to my birth mom and see where it goes from there...

Any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks in advance...

I'm still searching for my Birthmother...I was born on
Thanksgiving Day in 1972 in or around Davie County (now believed to be Charlotte NC) ...Lewis Alexander and Wilkes County DSS handled the adoption for Willie James (Jim) Mathis and Nellie Sue Hemric Mathis...I weighed 6lbs and 1/2 oz. I was 22 inches long and was born by C-Section...Any help would be greatly appreciated...I love you my sweet birth Mama where ever you are...there is not a day that goes by that i don't remember you...thank you for giving me life...May God hold you safely in the palm of His hand...

I don't know what my birth name was...I was told by my adopted parents that my foster family called me "Sheila" I believe so I don't know...I am white...that's all I know for now...

Could you find out if the older couple was Mr. and Mrs. Elijah Welbourne? Perhaps you could call Wilkes County and see if they can tell you this info and possible more via a scheduled phone appointment. When were you adopted (year)?? Were you an infant or older? I will send you a pm.

I was wondering if I could get a search angel to find out about my foster family in Wilkes County. I don't do phone converstaions very well with public stuff like this so I was just curious if someone could find out who my foster parents were in 1972-1973 were. I was placed in DSS of Wilkes County prolly when soon after I was born. Any help would be greatly apprectiated...
