F Adoptee ISO BP and/or family...Born August 1, 1958..Buffalo, New York
Hi eveybody,
I am new here, I swore I wouldnt begin a search until the appropriate time, but I am not getting any younger, Im sure many can relate. I am a Female adoptee born on August 1, 1958 at Buffalo General Hospital. That is all I know. I will read all I can here, and know records are sealed in NY. Hopefully I can perhaps obtain some information, I am anxious to see if I can find out if I have any family out there. I wish to cause no havoc, finding any siblings or information about my past is just something that I feel is important at this time in my life. If anyone can offer any help and or shortcuts, I certainly will appreciate it, otherwise, I will just read and learn. ![]() |

There is a group that meets the 3rd friday of each month for people who are touched by adoption. It is called PACES. They can be helpful in pointing you in the right direction regarding your particular circumstances. They meet at the Grace Lutheran Church on Cazanovia Street in South Buffalo. Let me know if you would like more information. Bill

POV,
Try registering on the new york state birth registry, they are very helpful in reuniting birth families with adoptee's from new york state. Good luck with your search. Colleen |

I was told that the New York State birth registry will only reunite people if all three parties register, bmother, bfather and adoptee. The people at OLV and PACES suggested the International Soundex Registry (you can go on-line to get the registration form). I have done both plus registering with the agency's (OLV) registry. They also suggested submitting a form to the NY registry updating your medical history to be put in the adoptee's file. It is best if you can get a doctor to submit a letter with the history stating that it is accurate. I was told that often as adoptees get older they wonder about their medical history and check to see if anything has been added to their files. I also submitted the medical history to the agency's file. The next step is searching birth records, motor vehicle records, marriage certificates, death records, etc. A huge undertaking which will require lots of time and luck.

Aug 1st 1958 reply
This is probably a long shot , but I was born 8-10-58, or that is that date that I was told in Buffalo, NY. I am a 46 yr old female and they told me my name at birth was Pamela Sue Dahlin and that I was born in Buffalo General Hospital. Does that sound like anything you may know about. Thank you Krisitn

nystate registry
Wekuebler: All people whose names were required on the surrender papers need to register with the NYstate registry in order to make a match with the adoptee registered. If only the bmom's name was on the surrender papers and not the bdad's then the registry will do the match with the adoptee and bmom. In most cases only the bmom's name appeared on the surrender papers. However, if the bdad's name WAS on the surrender papers then he too would have to register along with the bmom in order to make a match with the adoptee registered. Gina

I am searching for my birth siblings, I am pretty sure that the birth mother is dead and that the birth father/s have not a clue of their daughters. Anyway, I think I have found 2 half sisters and 1 half brother. I am in contact with one of the sisters and we have both registerd with the NYS registry. We know that the birth mom never registered, and that she is dead. How will this affect us being matched up in the registry as siblings? We made no mention of eachother on our applications to see if we would be matched up. We are only 9 months and 2 days apart if our birth dates are correct. Is this possible? If the birth mother never registered, and is dead, can NYS still match us as siblings if we truly are and notify us of such a match without the birth mothers consent? Does anyone know if the NYS registry is an active or passive registry, if you do know then what is the difference in the active registry and the passive one? Please help? I am also searching for my possible half brother. His name is Nicholas Nowacki from Depew, NY. I have no other information on him except for his father's name, and his former home address. I looked for him and found one in New Jersey at a military address and one on Toledo,OH. I have no idea if he is searching for his sisters or if he even knows of our existence! Anyone know him or have information of him? Please Help.

ny registry
maggiep. yes NY state registry will match siblings even if the bmom has not registered. They will go by the info on the adoption records. But it can take up to a yr to do the match. They are very slow. Gina
