Kim- I was thinking about you today and was going to suggest just what Jennifer did; there was a lady on here a few months ago (Robin maybe?) who didn't have a placement for years, and after calling FAFS, got a placement VERY quickly (if I'm remembering the story correctly

Best of luck!

Feel free to PM me if you dont want to name names publicly - but I know some folks in Ocean and I'm wondering if I can help?? I hate hearing about good resources that arent being utilized, yet so often there are foster homes out there that just keep getting used over and over and over again and always have four or five kids at once! Its definitely a matter of getting your name known to one or two of the facilitators and then it will happen - then you'll be getting so many calls you'll be screaming for them to stop! Thats how it seems to go for me. I think I got 2-3 calls for placements every week in the month of July. But nothing lately. . . . Please dont give up!!
I am in Pennsylvania but I am feeing the same thing here. I have been licensed a year in September.I got my first call the day before I was certified. They stayed for 6 months. It has now been 6 months since they left, going on 7.I have only gotten 2 calls both out of our age group. No placement though.I contact my agency once a month, they are tired of me I am sure but they claim they are getting calls for only older children.

Somehow I do not believe that in 6 months only older children ....and they are a BIG agency who deals with 6 counties !!!!!!

I actually did that one time back in August and was so close to getting a placement. They called me and I had accepted but then decided to place the two girls with relatives and nothing since then. I did have the lady I talked to email address and I did email her but havent heard back from her. If I dont hear from her in a week I will contact her next week.

I have called so many people and have gotten no where. I talk to Julie at least once a month. Last time I talked to her was last month. I think she is tired of hearing from me. Well thats good cause I am tired of calling. I am so frustrated and I thought this would be much easier to get a child in my home. I guess not. I have a nice room ready for a child in need but I guess they dont need it.

It comes down to who you know and if they like you..
We had issue with some people at dyfs including placement person (due to error on CW part that was proven her fault) anyway for that we have not received a call in over a year now ..(Last Sept was last placement) and we are listed for any age, any race, any sex etc...
Good luck with that however, it is sad the way they single people out even though they are good homes willing to care for these children

Hi

For some reason I posted to you the other day but my post didn't take. NOt sure why.

I know of a couple who live in Monmouth Co.(who plan on moving to Ocean) and they recently informed me that theyve been waiting over a year. So you arent alone. Unfortuately I wish I could tell you whom to call or give you further advice, I just dont have any. I hope things work out soon for you! Keep us posted.

Well Ocean County is no better with placements than monmouth so I guess they will be waiting a while here too.

If I had to wait a year I think I would just give up at that point. I tell you its looking mighty good to be a tv and dog room.

Still no placements and I continually call DYFS and even the person in charge of my county for FAFS and I get no return phone calls. What is up with this? I am loosing all hope that I will ever get a child. Oh well!! I tried but dont look like I am getting any children. Been licensed for 5 1/2 months and nothing go figure!!!!

Kim- have you ever thought of signing up with a private agency, like catholic charities?

I'll pm you a link for foster care agencies in NJ.
