Petition for Adoption

We just recieved our petition for adoption papers today and we have some questions. The forms do not say anything anywhere about this being a subsidized adoption. Does it need to say that it's subsidized on the papers that we sign?

The papers I signed last week had a set of papers all about the subsidy and how much I was going to recieve. I wouldnt sign until you find out where those papers are.

No, not to worry. The petition for adoption is the legal pleading that gets filed with the court. It is your application (i.e. petition) to the court, seeking the Court's official approval of the adoption. The subsidy agreement is just that - a contract between you and DYFS. While yes, you should have already signed the subsidy agreement with DYFS, there is no place within the Petition for Adoption that mentions whether it is a subsidized adoption or not.

We did already sign papers with our cw that was about the subsidy. So, since I already sent an email to the lawyer yesterday, we will wait to hear back from him, but it woulds like we don't need the petition to say anything about subsidy.

Thanks for your help.

Toni

Congrats! This is the final step! Now the Lawyer files it, the Judge calls you to her court and asks you if everything in the petition is correct, and then she signs it, and its DONE! You're almost a family for ever and ever!

Dude... it's scary that this is happening faster for you than it is for me with a child that was relinquished by her mom (DYFS was only involved because mom wanted no part of finding a home for the baby and they were in residence at the hospital). Or maybe I'm confusing you with someone else...?

Regardless--I'm incredibly happy for you!!!! We shouldn't be too far behind!!
