Radiator Covers

Has anyone figured out a way to block radiators? We are getting ready for our homestudy and I'm trying to think of a way to avoid the radiators in our old house being a problem. Custom-made covers are a lot of money, so I was thinking of using fireplace screens in the high traffic rooms. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi...I remember this being an issue with a friend of mine- I'll e-mail her to get the whole story. I seem to remember her spending alot of money for the covers, but then it not being an issue. BTW- you have time to abait any issues on the home inspection; of course you want to pass the 1st time, but you could try the fireplace screens and if they are not okay, you could get the custom-made covers.

Did you end up going with Just Babies?

Eileen

Thanks for looking into it! I'm trying to avoid spending a lot of cash on this if it's not going to be an issue.

We did go with Just Babies - you were right, they are fabulous. I expected classes to be a chore, but the speakers were great. I am so excited - I just want to get the home inspection finished and get on with this!

Hi. i spoke with my friend who had the radiator issues. she spent lots of money for custom-made covers, and the state inspector said they weren't necessary.

i thought the training was great, too, and the speakers were awesome. when is your homestudy? btw- pat or beth will let you know if you have any issues that will fail you for the state home inspection. pm me if you have any questions.

That's good to know - they are really expensive, and we have a lot of radiators.

I'm waiting on my doctor to send a letter to Just Babies - after that my file will be complete and we can set up a date for the homestudy. The doctor's office keeps losing the request, or forgetting...they've had the request for two weeks already, so I'm getting a little cranky. If I had been smart I would have made an appointment and had her write it while I was sitting there....but I'm not that smart, I guess.

I'm just so excited to get this GOING - the idea that we might have someone to trick or treat with next year has been making me smile all day. Are you dressing your little man up?

My little man was a turkey tonight (his biodad calls him turkey as a nickname and when I saw the costume at BabiesRUs, I just had to get it!), but he is sick so I dressed him up for pics only, and his daycare teacher, who loves him to death, came to visit him.

I hope that next year you have someone to take trick-or-treating...maybe you will have someone to buy holiday gitfs for THIS year...once you get your license, it can happen so fast!

Speaking of things happening fast - after I posted on Friday my doctor faxed the letter, Pat called and set up an appointment to do the homestudy the next day! She & Bill came out, saw the house and met the dogs. Both of the puppies threw up during the homestudy! I guess it proved I can deal with vomit, right? Pat & Bill were lovely about it, but I have no idea what got into the dogs.

They said that we could wait and see on the radiators, just devise a way to block the one in the nursery.

Your little turkey must have been adorable! Is he feeling better?

It just hit me the other day how fast this could happen - I was looking at coats, thinking that I should pick one up at the end of the season to be ready for next year, when I realized that someone could arrive this winter! That blew my mind - in a good way!

Congrats on passing the homestudy!!! Next step, the state inspection. Mine happened about 1 month after my homestudy.

It really can happen so quickly! I got my 1st call 3 weeks after I got me license (it fell through), my 2nd call about 3 weeks after that (it also fell through) and my 3rd call, "a keeper!", 2 months after I got my license in the mail.

My little turkey is finally better...he had a stomach virus for many days. Poor little guy- it was a very nasty, icky virus!

Keep me updated on how things go for you!!
