Supervised visits
My FS had his 1st visit with his biodad yesterday. The visit was supposed to be supervised, but they spent 45 minutes alone together in a room with the door closed. There was no observation window. Is this the norm for visitations? This really concerned me...I don't know how much I can reveal on this forum, but there is a history that warrants concern for the baby's safety. Did I have a right to vioce my concern (his social worker ok'd them being alone). How would you suggest I handle next week's visit, should the same thing happen again? What is my role in the visits? If I hear the baby crying, can I go in? This is all new to me...the bios have had visitation rights for months but never used them- now they have agreed to an identified surrender and all of a sudden want to have their visits!

I've found that DYFS is not always looking out for the best interest of my foster children so I deal directly with each of my kids' law guardian. Call the law guardian and tell them your concerns. You are the child's most important advocate. Don't let DYFS intimidate you into thinking you aren't. If you don't know who the law guardian is, call the 888 Trenton # and complain till you find out. You are entitled to have the person's contact info.

Doesn't sound right to me. I agree, call the LG, SW, anyone & everyone to get this fixed.

I called the LG- she also is uncomfortable with how the visit happened and said that, given the dad's history, it should not have been unsupervised (I should have listened to my gut and spoken up during the visit that he shouldn't be alone with the baby!). I also called his CASA worker. There will be someone to supervise the next visit. Thanks for your feedback.
