any Burlington County experiences?
We have finished our homestudy and classes and now just need our home inspected. I have heard many stories of wait time for a placement. Anyone from Burlington Co. with their stories? We are looking for under 5, prefer girl but are open. Thanks for any replies!

I'm in Burlington county, and from my experience summer is very busy time for foster placements, and fridays the phone will ring and ring and ring. Fost/adopt placements are a longer wait and straight adoption is by far the longest.
Burlington county also seems to have a racially diverse group of children being placed. In county, we've had 2caucasian, 1 biracial and 1 african american, and are listed as racially open. When we were in essex county the vast majority of our placements were african american. As for age, in foster you won't wait too long. FAFS has a great Burlington county support group, but they're off for the summer and meet again in the fall. -Leena

I'm also in BC. I was liscensed in March and had a placement of a boy by May. I was originally girls only and my SW told me there seem to be a lot fewer girls than boys. At time of liscensing I was open to both sexes.
Good Luck!!

Hi there,
I am in Gloucester but Little Dude is from Burlington. In fact, he got placed with me because they couldn't find anyone to take him in Burlington. I think that is a good sign for you because they really NEED foster parents in Burlington. In Salem County, too. When I was still getting calls, most of mine came from Salem. You know, I started out wanting a girl, too, but now I love, Love, LOVE my Little Dude! Also to keep in mind, the majority of kids in NJ foster care are boys, from what I understand. But still, hold out for the kind of child you want/feel equipped to help. ![]()
