Multiple kids- looks in public

We have 4 foster kids all 5 and under - ages 5,4, 3 & almost 2 to be exact. When we go out in public, you should see the looks we get. Either they stare or people walk up to us and say " My ! You have your hands full!" I used to find it amusing, now it's annoying. Why does anyone care how many kids I have? Sometimes I think people would stare less if I walk down the street with an elephant! Does anyone else with 3+ kids get this reaction?

Now that the boys are older we don't get too many looks. But when they were younger and we had a third we'd get tons of looks. Now the age difference is big enough that people don't stare too much: almost 7, 6,and almost 3. I do get tons of questions whether the older two are twins or not though. And I think in our case the stares may come from racial differences more than size of family,.

I also got the "stares" from people when they see me out with my gang. It is rare for me to go anywhere with just 1 child. We have 5! Ages are 8, 5 1/2, 4, 4 and 8 months. So you can imagine. It does get better as they get older .. but people are inquisitive.
