Do I need traveling documents for USA vacation with FS
We are taking our 2.5 year old FS to Florida. Our original plan was to take him to Dominican Republic and get him a passport with DYFS but that did not work out with a decent time table so this is plan B.
Do we need to show anything to airlines before we board with his name, we purchased him a seat, does he need any traveling documents. |

Get a letter from the cw stating that you're the foster parent(s) and have permission to travel. I've traveled with my fs (2 went on a cruise) and there has never been a problem.

I just returned from travelling with my FS. We had no problem at the airport - they never asked to see anything for him. It was actually a little creepy how easy it was to travel with an infant. Of course, I had permission to travel with him.
Enjoy your vacation.

I called Social worker, she is going to give me an updated Foster parent letter to have with me just in case. I am just worried because of all the high security ( flying out of Newark) and the fact that he does look anything like us or my dd, thanks everyone.

Be prepared to sip his formula
No, the only document you need is the standard foster parent letter. Make a lot of copies and bring with you. The airline only looked at my ID and boarding pass - nothing for Baby Boy.
And I am SO glad we flew earlier this month and not NOW. I heard they are making people taste the formula and breast milk. Hmmm. Actually, the worst part was unhooking Baby Boy from his carseat/stroller where he was sleeping snug and sound so that we could walk through the metal detector. While holding him I had to: take off my shoes, put the carseat and stroller on the conveyor belt through the machine, put my purse through the machine and hold out my boarding pass. Then on the other side, I had to put everything back together and on. It was QUITE a juggling act.
