Arrow READ THIS: News about NJ Child Welfare Reform

DYFS and Children's Rights Inc. - the child advocacy agency suing DYFS - have reached an agreement which HOPEFULLY will mean good news for foster kids and foster parents. The settlement means that Children's Rights Inc. will no longer seek a federal court takeover of DYFS.

(And as most of you know, DYFS will soon become the Department of Children and Families.)

The new agreement is supposed to speed up adoptions (THANK GOD!), provide better training for social workers and new procedures for recruiting foster parents. The article I read in the Inquirer even mentions increasing subsidies for foster families.

Thanks for posting this. The Philly article actually has a link at the bottom to the new plan.

Thank Goodness!

I'm so glad this reform is moving forward! Kudos to Children's Rights for helping to change what seemed like the impossible -- no doubt thousands of innocent children's lives will be saved/improved by this.
