Ok we're finally updated and now we wait for our hs to be entered into the system, which I was told would most likely be by friday.
I guess the whole NJ process is changing because we don't get our own cwer to send out our homestudy. We can inquire about children and then wait for a response from the child's cwer. Or just wait for a match within the system/database itself. I found out that going out of state is on a case-by-case basis and has to be approved by NJ office of adoption operations. Hoping that's not going to be too difficult. So after waiting for over 8 months for a daughter and being listed as wanting an infant son (LOL) we really start waiting for a NON-infant daughter. Would love to hear how everyone else is doing. 3times are you recovering? -LeenaB

Leena,
Congrats on the update. But I want you to know that out-of-state adoptions is NOT on a case-by-case basis. The state cannot legally bar you from adopting out-of-state, with the HS they conducted. It's a violation of federal law. Upon request, they HAVE to provide it. We live in NJ. I have one out-of-state placement, and was just matched with another out-of-state child. Both children are from states in the mid-west. It's been an exciting time. Even after the first adoption, I tried in earnest to adopt within NJ -- even inquiring on four children listed at The Heart Gallery. DYFS would not respond to my repeated inquiries nor the inquiries of lots of other parents. The organization is so messed up, they would have to get rid of everyone there before they could even begin to get on the right track. It's horrible, the kids pay ultimately. But out-of-state is an option. It's very viable. I'm not the only family whom has done it. Interstace compact can be frustrating but again, that is because the state drags its feet, every time they lose a family to an out-of-state adoption, which results in a real loss of federal funds. |

Julianne,
Please let me know how you went about getting your HS sent out of state. You can PM me if you prefer. We've inquired about heart gallery children since feb and are just finally hearing about them now. Mostly hearing that the children we're interested in have been placed for adoption. Please PM me. I would to know how to go about this. Thanks a million, LeenaB

UPDATE:
well the update of our HS got sent to trenton, but they forgot to send the orignal HS as well. So we're partially entered into the computer but won't be deemed active until all the information is there, LOL. Sorry just have to laugh about it. So hopefully sometime next week everything will be in adoption operations. -LeenaB
