Respite care
Does anyone do respite care? My husband and I have discussed it and I'm curious to see what people's experiences are with it i.e. calls in the middle of the night, do any kids stay longer etc?

We've done respite and emergency and have been open to vacation placements (sometimes considered respite).
Respite is usually when the foster parents need a break. It could be for so many different reasons and vary from a weekend to a few weeks or a month. Respite seems to be arranged for in advance. emergency placment calls come at almost any time of day or night. We did them in northern NJ and have had calls at 3am with children arriving at 4am. So it can be pretty hecktic.
