Question regarding birth certificate

We finalized our adoption yesterday...after being cancelled 4 times....and on the way out...the attorney said that the birth certificate should be ready in December. Does it get mailed to him, me or to I have to pick it up in Trenton? Anyone familiar with this?

When we finalized in July the adoption decree and birth certificate went to our attorney. Not sure if that is always the case though. We only waited about 4 weeks for the birth certificate, December seems a long time.

Congratulations on your finalization!!!

I've never heard of anyone having to pick it up. But who it goes to depends on how the attorney fills out the paperwork. Our first one went to the attorney, the second came to us. Our first took a few months, the second took longer - because the form got lost. So we waited three, called the attorney, and they followed up, resubmitted the info, and it came a month or so after that.
But you can call your attorney and ask. That's what you paid them for!

And Congratulations!! Yahoo!

Thanks ladies...we are over the moon happy

I called the attorney and he said that he gets the birth certificate...and that "trenton" is 6 months behind. Not sure about that. It does seem like a long time.
