That's it! I went there once and bought their blueberry jam and it was awesome. Very pretty area.
We go to Worcester with the kids ocassionally - the Ecoterium is great and we went to a kids concert once at Mechanics Hall. I'm still trying to figure out the name of the inn we went to a few years back. I know its on Rt 9 and in one of the Brookfields. I'm psyched that Theo is back, don't you think that if he was around two months ago that Johnny Damon wouldn't be a (gulp) N.Y. Yankee... |

Ok I have to jump in here because even though I'm not from Central MA my DH is! He grew up in Grafton.
And when I was in college in Boston I dated a guy from Holden - Anthony Finnachio. Julie do you know him? I had to ask ![]() Oh and Opus, are you thinking of the Salem Cross Inn? It's out near Spencer. DH and I looked at it for our wedding reception but since we were getting married in Grafton at St. Mary's we went with the Asa Waters Mansion in Millbury. It's a beautiful old home and we had a beautiful reception. Poolside - it's funny that you are a New Englander at heart and are now in the south. I actually grew up all over the south but my parents longed to move to New England. Right after High School my dad was offered a job with Perini working on the Big Dig. We moved here in '91 and my sister and I attended college in Boston (she at Simmons and I at Pine Manor). My parents bought an old historical home in Medway and we've been up here ever since. I love it but sometimes miss the south. I go back occasionally to visit friends. I'm actually going to Savannah in March for a girls spa weekend with some friends from High School. Ok now that I've given my life story I'll say bye for now. I'm so glad to find some locals who are going or have gone through this process. Hope to see some of you at the conference in April. ![]()

Gee..I mention all my old fave restaurants... which have all been around for years & years and all anyone notices is the Tom Brady remark??? LOL
To clarify: he is not in MY family & I have never met him. He's on mother's side. It's about as close to famous as I get. I must be really getting old...all I think about is the food I'm missing! |

NiandCa! You make me laugh! I actually had noticed the food stuff and meant to comment and got sidetracked!
We LOVE Kelley's, and go to the Kowloon still a couple times a year. We had lived out in Malden/Everett for a few years, so all that stuff used to be really close. It's still worth the drive. Oh, yeah, Dh did go to good ole Malden High! He graduated in 94. His niece's go there now! His mom lives a stone's throw from there. Every time we drive by he says "There's the entrance to the pool," it's become a joke because when I first met him he'd drive me around and show me all these places and the only place I remembered was the entrance to the pool because I couldn't imagine knowing someone who actually had a pool in their school! So he said it a couple more times, thinking he had never told me, and I finally told him he'd told me a million times, so now we laugh. Whenever we go by, all these years later, we still crack up and say it. Silly fun. Yeah, we need a hobby. LOL! Opus, I'm glad Damon's gone. (I hear the booo's). He was a good ball player, but I just couldn't stand him. He turned my stomach whenever he opened his mouth. What did he say when he left?? Something about he may be an idiot but he's not stupid. LOL! He did come up with some funny stuff. I just didn't like the kind of guy he *seems* to be. Brady on the other hand... I'd go into severe withdrawals if he left NE. Mrs Rodger, I'm not sure who that Anthony person is... I'll have to ask my brothers and my sister. Wouldn't that be funny! Ooh, and The Spencer Inn is so pretty. My friend's Aunt had her wedding there. And my cousin just did last summer. It was so nice. I haven't spent much time in Millbury though, other than the 4th of July fireworks. Still the best around. Mechanics Hall hosted our senior prom... Very funny all these little common bonds! Ok, gotta go prepare the house for a scrapbooking party I'm hosting. Just about ready. Gotta get the goodies ready now. Have a great Saturday folks! |

Wow, all the connections are great! My DH has a Worcester connection - went to WPI, and now has a company in Sutton.
And CT: DJChris, my sister lives in Wolcott! And I grew up in Stamford and Norwalk. My parents are still living there. I'm hoping to attend the ODS conference again this year. It's April 8, but don't know the place yet. The past few years it's been in either Milford or Bellingham, MA. - Maura ![]()

Well, we went to our first MAPP class, and it really was great. There was a lot we understood intellectually about adopting kids in the foster system, but it helps getting it on a deeper level. So it's scary, but also really cool.

Wanna hear something about Tom Brady besides how he looks? I've been told that he...and his family...are about as NICE as anyone can be!! What you see (on TV) is slightly LESS than what you really get. Now I don't know that for sure, but I thought I'd contribute my.02 to the legend.
If only I could get interested in football...my grand daughter has to point him out to me during games...she's 3!Heading "home" in March. I hope Kowloon doesn't have an "all you can eat" special then or we'll be rolling back to AZ like big ol' tumbleweeds! Class of 92???? Arrrrrgggghhhhh....I had my fifth kid & was on my 3rd house by then!! Lordy, lordy, where did it go? ![]() |

Hmmm, maybe we should rename this the Central Mass forum.
![]() Anyhow, thanks Wendy, it was definately the Salem Cross Inn I was thinking about - its in W. Brookfield, a great place. We also had our wedding and reception in a beautiful old building - the Derby Academy in Hingham (DW grew up on the South Shore). Kelley's is awesome. I love the fried clams. Nothing beats the original in Revere but the one in Saugus isn't bad. You know there was another huge Chinese restaurant near the Kowloon in Saugus and I can't think of the name of it - does anyone recall the name? Anyhow, any trip to the Kowloon is dangerous because it is perilously close to the Christmas Tree Shop. DW loves that place.Julie - I was never a big fan of JD the star but you have to admit he was a great leadoff hitter. Remember the 7th game in the ACLS against the Yankees? His two homers were huge. All this snow is a drag, although its supposed to change to rain here in Cambridge. It'll probably stay snow at home in Waltham. Could be a fun ride home! |

opus,
I worked all w/e didn't hear the wheather reports. I thought we might get rain/snow mix and centel mass would get more. Well my 13 yo was sick during the night..thought maybe he could stay.was he that sick?/ Yes, he is..ok..he can't stay alone..now what do I do? Call my father who lives in Arlington?? Looked out the window and felt it would be unfair to ask my almost 80 year old dad to drive from Arlington ......so, I got someone to work for me(Thank God, she did)... so now at 9:50 its looks like we have about 4 inches and its still coming down hard!! I work on the Lex/Waltham line..bet its snowing pretty hard there too. Take care driving. BTW.my oldest son works in Waltham also.....wnated to call his cell to see if he made it ok....reports of lots of accidents....but I know I'll probably hear"mom..I'm fine don't worry about it!!" So I won't call Donna |
