Friend of Dawn Lynn Burkey-Ray. (Fort Wayne, Indiana)

Dawn's real interest here is finding her Birth Father if he is also desiring to know about her.

She DOES NOT want anyone to contact the birth mother regarding this adoption.

Dawn's adoptive parents are Galen and Jane Burkey of Morrill, Nebraska. She says that they have been wonderful, supportive parents through her entire life. They are supportive of Dawn finding information regarding her birth parents and lineage.

Nebraska Children's Society located a distant relative of birth mother, and said that the birth mother wanted no further contact with daughter. She also said that no further contact should be initiated by birth child or family to birth mother or her distant relatives or she would contact her lawyer with regards to harrassment (1993).

My friend's adoption came out of the Nebraska Children's home. She was born October 11, 1966 at 2:26am, 6 lbs, 6 oz, 18 inches long. She was kept in foster care for about 3 months because of health issues. She had poor muscle tone, and there were some concerns about her weight gain. She remained in the same foster home in Omaha until adoption placement on January 19th, 1967.

Birth Father was born in 1940. He was 5 foot 9 inches tall, and weighed 165 pounds. He had blue eyes, brown hair and a medium complexion. He was a high school graduate and received average grades. He was mechanically inclined and also enjoyed playing sports. His religion was Lutheran and he was employed as a welder. Birth mother described Birth Father as being quite-good looking.

Birth Mother was 23 at time of adopted's birth (Mother Born 1952?). Birth mother also had a baby girl born 1965 and gave her up for adoption also. This female has been located and is living in Iowa (1996 - last known). Birth mother had been married and divorced at the time of the 1966 birth, she was parenting a little boy who wouldve been 3-4 years of age. Birthmother was 5 foot 8 inches tall, and weighed approximately 160 lbs. She has blue eyes and brown hair, she was fair complected. Her nationality was Swedish. She was a high school graduate with average grades. Her favorite subject was History. She enjoyed music and played the piano and accordian. She had a special interest in reading and spectator sports. Her religion was Baptist. She was employed as a nurse's aide and was describes as being a very conscientious and hard working woman.

Birthmothers mother - was 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighed 170 pounds. She had hazel eyes, brown hair and a ruddy complexion. She was a high school graduate and in very good health.

Birthmothers father - was deceased. He died in 1950 at the age of 30. He had rheumatic fever twice as a boy and did have an enlarged heart. He was 5 foot 11 inches tall and weighed 140 pounds. He had brown eyes, dark brown hair and a medium complexion. He was of French and Irish descent. Prior to his death, he was a farmer.

Birthmother had one younger brother and a younger half brother.
