Anyone ever do a Vision Quest?

After reading many of the posts, I see we all share one thing, a lack of belonging.

For years, I have always felt alone and had a lot of self hate. But as I've matured, the self hate has slipped away and I like who I am.

The question of being native/white, etc is not so much a big deal to me, as lacking a sense of direction in my life.
I've tried going to church for years, but I just don't connect with it. So, I started to some research on Vision Quests and am just wondering if any of you have sought out this form of healing and insight?

If so, what was your experience like and how did you connect with a healer in the first place? Many of the sites I've been on, are run by whites. I figure if I'm actually going to do this, I want a true experience.

Thanks for any help and keep your chins up. I hope everyone has a blessed holiday and best wishes for the new year.

Valerie

I haven't, but I know this sort of thing is often debated within tribes. Some groups welcome outsiders to participate, and some don't want anyone from outside the community involved in their sacred rites. There are also a fair number of charlatans out there looking to make a few quick bucks from whites seeking an "authentic" experience.

That said, I think it would be a great experience if you can find a suitable person to guide you.

Thanks Joe....

Yes, I was taking into consideration those aspects of it as well. It makes sense.

So all those things are potential road blocks. So, you balance that with just having the experience. Should I be worried about being harmed in some way if the ritual is not done right???

I never went there. I always looked at it as a postive experience.

Thanks Joe, for making me think deeper.
