I'm not sure if I would be able to help you or not. Were you born in Canada and adopted in the US also?
Do you have any information on where you were born etc? Have you posted your information on this forum? I'll try but I can't promise anything. Take care. |

No I wasn't born in Canada, I was born in Minnesota. Or at least thats what the adoption agency told me. I was adopted in Minnesota when I was 3 yrs. old. I have an older sister who was also adopted with me. We were told that both our parents are native american, but were never told which tribe they were from. We believe that our mother may have been from Michigan. Although the further we get in our search its getting to be harder to believe any info we received from the adoption agency.

i need help
Hi! For the past several years my mom has been trying to find her birth parents. She was born in Tacoma, WA. The only thing that she found out was that her parents last name was Perry. Now, she only found out that from her birth certificate and there are so many people named perry. I was just wondering if you could help me find her parents for her. she was born sept 22, 1962. i was also wondering if you could tell me if it is true that native american children used to get taken from their parents and put up for adoption for no reason? I was just wondering because i read about that some where a long time ago.

Hi all,
When Neecer first wrote to me asking for help, I wondered why ask me? I too am searching for my brother. Then I re-read all the posts. Turns out we are all looking for help from native_adoptee. I haven't heard back from native_adoptee myself but if I do will let them know that there are a number of us who need some help. Take care. |

Searching for father's birth family
Hi,
I was wondering if you would be able to help me find any of my father's birth family? He was born on May 28, 1949 in Hamilton, Ontario. His birth mother was 35 at the time of his birth, she was born in the United States and was of Irish and First Nations descent. My father had 7 half sblings, 6 which were older than him, 4 girls and 2 boys and then there was another boy born after him in 1955. I would appreciate any help you could give me. Thank you! |

I just thought i'd reply to the question Ziggy asked about children being taken from their birth parents. It is true, I myself came from that era and was placed in an Irish/English home. The welfare system did this as an attempt to assimilate us. Turned out to be more a form of genocide, but to them it was the right thing to do. They even adopted some Native children to families in Europe. It is unfortunate and as a result there are so many misplaced Natives out there looking for identity. It is possible to become a part of the Native community without necessarily being specific to your roots. Although I totally understand the need to know that. I wish everyone who is searching all the best luck that you will find what you are looking for.
