Blackfoot Indian needed to reconcile birth certificate

Unfortunately, my birth mom lied on my birth certificate b/c she thought no one would adopt
an indian/haitian baby. I always sensed something was awry. I am now trying to take
some control back of my life. I was found by
my family two years ago and it reminded me
how out of control of things I am. Being able
to rectify this would give my a sense of control
again. Does anyone know how to go about this?
I am 39 yrs old and was born in San Francisco.
Is there anyone else out there who was found and is whirling? I would love to hear your view on things.

The only way to obtain an official birth certificate with your birth parents names on it is to go thru an Adult Adoption, where your birth parents will adopt you, creating yet another amended birth certificate with the names of the adoptive parties as parents.

The “Original Birth Certificate” is no longer valid after an adoption takes place, and an amended certificate is issued.

Blackfoot

Because of research issues, I contacted Montana Social Services in Helena. They have an adoption agent whose job it is to provide whatever information you need to seek eligibility. Go to this website www.dphhs.state.mt.us and see if that helps you. Good luck.

P.S. in Montana you can request an original birth certificate.
