Question Subsity ?

Can anyone explain to me in english terms, how the Missouri adoption subsity works? And how they consider specail needs?
And what the rates are... I have been trying to do some research, and am getting conflicting reports.

I have a 18 month old, that we have began TPR on bparents. Bparents are both mentally ill, and both of their families, have a history of learning disabilities, and of ADD, ADHD, and ODD.

Thanks for the help,

In New York, the adoption subsidy is 75-90% of the foster care rate and it depends on income and family size. I'm a single mother. When adopting my youngest fs, I got the lowest rate as my family is just me and him and his needs are minimal. When I adopt my older son, I should get closer to 90% as he was severly abused and was in a group home for 3 years. HTH

You're likely getting conflicting reports due to recent legislation and court hearings regarding subsidy. The people best qualified to answer your questions would be midwest foster care and adoption agency at www.mfcaa.org they are moving their offices this week so may be a little slower responding then usual. Phone numbers are on their website as well as email contacts.

Thanks Lucy, I will try to get ahold of them, but what I am looking for is more info, on special needs adoption...
I mean what qualificies them as special needs, if MO even has it. My understanding is that every child over the age of 5 in foster care are considered special needs, and all get the same basic rate. That is what I am trying to find out.. Also trying to find out, if we have concerns about our f/s learning abilities, if we have to prove any of that before we apply for a susity in order to be able to get help paying for any special services we may need in the future. (Both of our f/s's bparents are mentually handicapped)
Thanks again for the info..

They can tell you all of that. They are the best source of information regarding anything to do with MO foster care or adoption I've ever seen. They know how to navigate the system and when the information parents are getting doesn't match the laws.

I have read that link... Thank You though...

I talked to our adoption worker... She explained a little bit to us... We thought that since our sons bparents were mentually ill, and they both had add & adhd, the chances that he would have something is greatly against him... We were wondering if we would qualify for a larger than the basic subsity... But I don't think so according to what she told us...
