HI EVERYONE, HAS ANYONE IN MISSOURI EVER HEARD OF ONE HEART FAMILY MINISTRIES? ITS A CHRISTIAN ORGANIZATION THAT PLACES KIDS IN FOSTER AND ADOPTIVE HOMES. THIS IS THE ORGANIZATION THAT I AM GOING TO GO THROUGH, BUT I WAS JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS HAD ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS ONE...IT IS LOCATED IN THE ST. LOUIS AREA. THANKS IN ADVANCE, I WAS TOLD THAT THE NEXT TRAINING STARTS IN SEPTEMBER, THANKS AGAIN.

WELL THIS ORGANIZATION WAS RECOMMENDED TO ME BY A FRIEND THAT FOUNDED ANGELS ARMS, WHICH IS A FOSTER HOME HERE IN SOUTH ST LOUIS COUNTY. I ASKED HER WHAT SHE WOULD RECOMMEND, SO THAT IS REALLY THE REASON THAT I AM GOING TO GO THROUGH THEM. I TRUST HER OPINION. I AM WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM THEM NOW, BUT THEY SAID THE NEXT CLASSES START IN SEPTEMBER AND NO THERE IS NO FEE THAT I AM AWARE OF. I WILL LET YOU KNOW MORE WHEN I FIND OUT MORE IF YOU WOULD LIKE. I JUST THOUGHT IF ANY OF YOU HAD ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THEM THEN THAT WOULD HELP ME AS WELL. THANKS...WAYNE.

I went through Lutheran Family Service. There was a fee for the home study. I'm not sure if the agency you are going through is the same type of organization (non for profit). I tried to go through the state but they gave me such a hard time. If you are taking the STARS and Spaulding classes, I can tell you that the classes are very informative.

i received the training through a group called Bringing Families Together, they are based in st louis but have an office out in the boondocks where i am.

they contract with the state for the classes and home study all at no cost to me. but once the HS is complete it was turned over to the local DFS office they are the ones that did the final inspection and contract to be a foster/adoptive parent.

it started in jan and my contract was signed this week.

i would suppose any group that can do the HS and classes that is accepted by the state is ok. but i would not pay for a home study

YEAH BRINGING FAMILIES TOGETHER IS GOING TO BE TRAINING ME WITH THE STARS CLASSES...THEY DO THE TRAINING FOR ONE HEART FAMILY MINISTRIES. IM WAITING TO HEAR FROM THEM, HOPEFULLY IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS I WILL HEAR FROM THEM AND I CAN OFFICIALLY SIGN UP FOR THE CLASSES, THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO START NEXT MONTH SOMETIME. HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND.
