Female ISO Birth Family DOB 10-24-37

I am trying to help a friend find her birth family. She was born in KC, Missouri on 10-24-1937. If anyone has the birth index for that date and would share the information it would be greatly appreciated.

Joyce

I am the friend Joyce is searching for....she is such a sweet person. I was finally able to register for this forum tonight. My birthdate is ancient but I know there is some paperwork somewhere with my original name: Joan Wall, or that was my bmom's name. I got a glimpse of it and then it disappeared. Rosalee verified that I came from St. Anthony's Home.

missouri info

Some of this information is listed in the search guidelines for Mo. I received my nonidentifying information from Rosalee last year and she is really nice, even though she is working with her hands tied behind her back. I was very lucky and was found last year by a friend of bmom. My bmom is your age - I was adopted from the Willows. So your post touched me on several levels.

You can get the forms to register from Missouri Adoption Information Registry.

Get the release request for non-identifying information from the Mo Dept of Family Services in Jefferson City and ask to speak with the adoption specialist - Rosalee Schottel. She does it by the book, but if you are NICE and not pushy, but honest and personable with her, she is helpful. She will also help you with the next step if you want to go there.

As of April 2007, the cost for a report showing the final birth file names of everyone born on one certain day is $52.50. You might want to contact Sheila Murphy to confirm the cost prior to making a request.

Bureau of Health Data Analysis
Missouri dept of Health and Senior Services
PO Box 570
Jefferson City, MO 65102-0570
Attn: Sheila Murphy

There are a lot of registries online - some cost, some don't. Just some ideas of places to start. Since you were born before the baby boom, there may be some information you can get from Missouri if you call. I know there are rules that are date specific.

Just an FYI - In the 40's and 50's (and maybe before), Kansas City, Mo was considered the baby mecca. Girls and adoptive parents came from all over the country to match up. That is why the laws in Mo are so closed. You might be interested in reading "the girls that went away" about bmoms in unwed mothers homes. It broke my heart what our bmoms dealt with but it also gave me real insight.

Good luck on your search. Feel free to pm me would like to visit.
