Heart

We wanted to do that while my DH was deployed but couldn't. We had to go to a Livescan facility and went 3 days after he got back.

Have you already been okay'd to do this? That's great!

We haven't been ok'd for anything. We don't even know if it's possible. Our agency told us to look into having it done at the Embassy. But the agency doesn't have a clue on this (perhaps someone should've told us this before he left a few wks ago)
It is in the green zone, so we're not sure who DH has to talk to. They just got there and you really don't want to dump this on the higher ups just yet.
DH has TS Clearance, and is in Baghdad, so technically it shouldn't be too hard.
But with everything else in the military, when it's seems an easy thing to do, someone has to go and make is a big PIA nightmare to accomplish.

If he cant have it done there we're gonna be 6 mos behind til he can get something done on R&R.

We had prints mailed through S3 shop but by the time we got everything figured out and had them back in order to submit them to our worker, it was time for R&R and he just did them locally. Depending on which step you are at the timing might work out similarly or you might be able to do it with help from the Rear D S3 shop where you are. We all know that Rear D depends on luck of the draw though! PM me if you have any other more personal questions I might be able to help with.

I know that when we did it, we got our fingerprints done with the SFs. (Security Forces does have to do this on a regular basis as well as the MPs.) Try them.

We also had to wait until my husband got back from his TDY. I know that it may have been possible for him to do his federal scan; but I don't know if your dh could do it from Iraq. You could possibly do the fingerprint cards that you mail to the FBI. But he'd have to go to a facility to have the prints done; assuming they don't have the scanning thing. Can you check with the FBI? I don't think most agencies would be helpful with this since they probably don't deal with it often. And for some reason, my husband HAD to get his prints done in Ohio--not Florida where he was TDY. I don't understand why it mattered but we just went along with it. Goodluck and pray your dh comes home safe and soon.

Our SF squadron here in Ohio refused to do prints unless they were for a government purpose. Just thought I'd mention that since it was a brick wall for us.

See this is what I don't get. We were told by our agency that we can only get prints done at Immigration or if allowed, at the Embassy in Iraq.
My DH is Intel and his prints are on federal file, but the agency told us that we could not obtain these through DH's resources, that they would have to be redone at said agencies..
I wonder if it's country specific where the prints originate from.
We're going through a country that as I'm told has some pretty strict guidlines, Poland.
I don't know, the agency doesn't seem too sure about dealing with deployed military when we were told from the beginning, they would have no problems accomodating our situation.
Now, they don't have answers. That's an awful lot of money to lay into a company that is making us get those answers.
I'm more than a bit peeved.

Not quite the same, but we are getting fingerprinted here on our overseas base tomorrow. It's nice because we don't have to pay for it--but then again, we don't have much of a choice of where to go to....

This is because you were in the states. Being overseas, is a different story. Our entire family had theirs done with the SFs.

I know its all so confusing; typical of the military. But we actually tried to start the process when DH was on remote in Korea; and the SF at Osan would not do it. And my husband is Intel too. I'm sorry you're dealing with this and I'm sure doing an international adoption only complicates it further. Our adoption was domestic so I'm not sure if that changes things either.
