Adaf
I am active duty Air Force and my husband works full time with TSA. All the forms we have been given to fill out all ask about stay at home parents or working part-time. Do you think the fact that we both work full-time will preclude us from being able to adopt?
Also, is there any type of "maternity" leave? or do I just have to take regular leave? Also, do you think I should tell anyone here at work that we are adopting? I just want the process to go as smoothly as possible ![]() Oh, yeah, one more question (lol...) What if we get orders in the middle of the process? Any help would be AWESOME! thanks! |

No, I really don't. Are you adopting domestically? Pbmom's look for different things; perhaps she isn't looking for parents who stay home, you never know. Quote:
When our son was born, my DH basically got 10 days of adoption leave approved by his command. They were very helpful in finding the Marine Corps order that allowed that. Then because our son was born so sick and was in the hospital for weeks, he took regular leave. I would think the AF has a similar order, so check into that. Quote:
's command so they'd be prepared to push leave through if we needed to leave quickly. I don't think it's a bad idea at all to prepare them in advance. Quote:
That, I don't know. You'd probably have to do a homestudy update at the very least. Quote:

Thank you so much!! I actually found the Air Force Instruction (well not the actual instruction but the memorandum prior to the instruction, still trying to find the finalized instruction) for nonchargeable leave for adoptions. It is for 21 days!!! Which I think is beyond awesome!!!!
