Residential Treatment/ Subsidy?

My husband and I are currently slately to adopt a 7 and 9 year old from the foster care system. I am trying to figure out Michigan policy before we go ahead. What happens if my child needs residential care that I can't afford? Are there any safeguards in Michigan?

Also, What if our family just couldn't handle a child and we are forced to relinquish him to the state. Would we be charged with abandonment? got to jail??? We really want to do this, but after reading the book "Can this Child be Saved" by Cline, I am freaked out. Did anyone read this book?
