I just found out that my dad had another child about fifteen years before me. His name at birth was Patrick, his mother's name is Wanda Gibson, and my father's name is Patrick Trent. My brother was born in Detroit in 1973 and was adopted out through a Lutheran service in Detroit shortly after birth. I don't know what happened after that... but I've lost a lot of family and I'd like to meet him because it'd be nice to have the big brother I always wanted, even if he is a lot older. Please help, someone!

Do you know what county in Michigan that your brothers adoption was finalized in? If you do...I know someone that could probably help you.

I apologize for the seemingly random contact, but I got your information from your post on adoption.com and I thought that you may be interested in and able to help me with a project that I am working on. I'm a Researcher and Casting Agent at MTV who is currently working on a documentary with the subject “I’m Looking for My Sibling.”

You may or may not be familiar with MTV's True Life -- it's a long-running, award winning documentary series that seeks to have young people share their stories, in their own words.

One of the themes we’re currently exploring for our new season, and this new show, is the difficulties involved in finding a lost sibling. Some of the themes we are exploring include: Have you lost touch with your sibling or step-sibling and want to reconnect? Were you separated from your brother or sister at a young age and have no idea of their current whereabouts? Or have you recently learned that you have a sibling you had no idea existed? Or maybe your biological father was a sperm donor and you’re looking to connect with your half siblings online? Are your other family members supportive of your search or put off by the idea?

After reading your entry on adoption.com where you discuss your quest to get in touch with your brother, we thought that a project like this could interest you.
