Wake up New York State
I paid almost $400 to an intermediary to petition the court in Buffalo, Ny......This was for medical emergencies which there are plenty of in my family........They would not open the sealed records. What they said was that the attorney who handled the case lost his files on my grandaughter. And that the family moved to he doesn't know where? My problem is I know the birthname but not the adopted name. However I decided to go further and wrote social security explaining my dilemma. Several weeks later I got a letter saying they couldn't find her ss# Do you suppose they moved to another state or country. Why so much difficulty? Certainly they could have given me the adoptive family's name. It would have been much easier for my search........Does anyone have any ideas? Please let me know.....Sincerely........Antoinette

wake up Buffalo.
I don't know about Buffalo, but several companies in the Rochester area (eg: Kodak) have taken many jobs overseas.. or possibly she or her parents are in the military?
Have you tried getting a list of females born in the USA on the same exact day as your grandaughter? Have you contacted the agency she might have used, or asked NY what agency or who else you might/should contact to leave updated medical info & a waiver of confidentiality + Your current contact info? If your daughter is deceased, you might also want to make sure any agency, etc. has a copy of her death certicicate along with your notarized letter. Having this all done on an attorney's letterhead might also be of help to You! Oh, where did you get a confidential intermediary? I didn't think NY state had them! Good Luck! Kathy |
