My DD has had two major brain bleeds. The first was in/near her brain stem. That was extremely life threatening for a breif period but really did not do much damage. She had a major frontal lobe hemorrage a couple of years ago and it has pretty much destroyed her. My guess is she went from about 60 IQ (she was disabled prior to this) to about 20 IQ. She still enjoys life (or at least it seems so) but she is really "out of it" for lack of a better descriptor. But she has a ton of other stuff going on so I am not sure she is an accurate example. She is considerably better than her prognosis (which was death or in a coma on life support for the rest of her life) but is very disabled. She will definately never be able to live on her own, even in a group home when she is older.
Feel free to PM me if you want more details or if you just want to talk. Last edited by Nevada Jen : 07-31-2009 at 02:34 PM. |
