downs syndrome feeding schedule
I got her last night and she is doing really well. she was born addicted to opiates, she had open hear surgery in May, and she is 6 months old but looks like a 2 or 3 month old baby.
My main concern is how much she is eating. They sent her with formula and bottles, but the bottles are all tiny 2 oz bottles for premies. They did not tell me her schedule and no one knows about how much or how often she eats only that she has some acid reflux problems. I have been feeding her 6 oz at a time and she hasnt spit up. So far, Ive fed her every 3-4 hours. So Im pretty sure she shouldnt be eating as much as a regular 6 month old, but then again I have no idea. And her pediatrician has not gotten back to me yet.

They probably sent you home with the 2 oz bottles because that is all the hospitals have. As a rule of thumb they should be taking in no more than half their weight in pounds in ounces of formula. So if you are feeding her 6 ounces at a time, she should weigh about 12 pounds. If she weighs more than that but will not take in more formula you might want to talk to the doc about giving her high calorie formula.
I bet she is a doll! |

It sounds like shes doing fine,Since she not vomiting,I wouldn't stop doing what your doing unless the ped tells you something different,Or she still seems hungry after you feed her.If she was that much of a concern with the hospital they would have gave more info on her,I would hope.
