My kids have hemiplegia/hemiparisis..from brain trauma, I've never heard of cognitive hemiplegia. And both have some PVL. My son's whole right side of his brain is dead, and the front and back on his left side are damaged. The only healthy brain he has is his central left. He is doing amazingly well. He can't walk yet..but he will in time. He's crawling everywhere now..he's aged 5, he can't say but a few words..but he has the words and thoughts in his head, he just can't get them out. And he understands more than he can relay. He's developmentally around 15 months old
My daughter is front right..left back. It mostly effected her whole left side. Other than not being able to open and close her left hand willingly she is doing great. Advanced in some areas..like school work..but delayed in stuff like stranger danger, and thinks that nobody is mean in the world. She loves everyone! She's age 6.
