Seattle Maternity Home

My bmom stayed in a maternity home,or home for unwed mothers in mid-late 1966, maybe early 1967. The home was supposedly in Seattle and then I was adopted out of spokane thru Lutheran Social Services and an attorney. If this sounds familiar please email
heidibay@thefrontporchcafe.org
Thank you

Not Sure....

I think... it might be the same one my Aunt stayed in... possibly called Katherine Luther unwed mothers home. If so, they are no longer open. My Aunt stayed there in late 1961 to late January 1962. Good luck with your search.

Thank you

Thank you for your response. I have been looking for that name forever. I had heard it before and remembered that it had been closed. Having the name of the home sometimes helps though when you are searching. Sometimes other things are changed but it seems the homes stay the same. By the way, I am building a list on a site I am starting of Maternity and unwed mothers homes and the years they are reported to be open and other information that we get. It seems to be something hard to find so I figured having it in one place where people could search or add to it and maybe even share a story or two might be good. The site is Home It is still under construction right now but feel free to visit. We are not helping people search, just kind of giving them a place to go and trying to collect information that is hard for some tofind. Thank you again and if anyone else knows of any others or anyone who has stayed at a seattle home we would love to hear from you.
Heidi
