Adopted in 1975 ~ Near the end of my rope...

So I've been searching and searching and I've done EVERYTING there is to do except pay the astronomical fee to Catholic Charities to start a search. I don’t want to pay b/c of all of the resources on the Internet! But, I’ve have signed every message board and given every registry my info, I figure their (birth family) just not looking for me yet.

Search guru, THANKS for all of your help but many of your options don’t work for me (not a public adoption) and the ones that do; I’ve done.

I recently received my non-id info and hoped that would help ease my mind for a bit. It didn’t! I read about so many people involved (9 aunts and uncles on my b.fathers side!!), that it has only made me want to search harder!

I think I may need to take a break. Maybe they’ll look for me one day.

Just needed to vent! Thanks.

Smile Don't give up!

Keep your chin up ..... I know Catholic Charities is expensive. My husband and I have been searching for 5 long years for his birthfamily and posted on every board the internet had to offer.

After we received his Non-ID this past December, we realized there was only one last thing to do...... pay the $400 to Lutheran Social Services to do the search for contact. We have had nothing but wonderful things to say about them - keeping us informed on what was being done etc. Just 5 months after paying the fee, my husband's birthmom was located and contacted by them. Just a week ago, she mailed us a detailed 4 page medical history that the birthmom had filled out for him. She has also told the LSS search agent that she would definitely like to correspond with him (through the agent for now) in writing and exchange letters and photos. No amount of money could ever take the place of my husband's smile and excitement when he learned he had 2 younger brothers.

Many people don't know they have the right to search -- or even where to go to begin a search. It doesn't mean that they don't want to. Go ahead and vent your frustration -- it's good to release those feelings ... just don't give up hope!

Blessings Always,
Deb (adoptee's wife)

Unhappy I know how you feel

I feel the same way...after awhile it just seems hopeless. I don't think I'm meant to be found. It's hard to search and post and search and post...argh! I hope you find your family. I guess we don't have a choice but to keep registerring on all the bazillion sites and hope for a match. There are so many of us...and we all want the same thing. Why won't they just open the sealed files and see that it would be o.k? Good luck!

Kim,
Thanks...I actually found her just a couple of days after I posted this. I've been searching for over six years so someone "up there" must have seen how much I needed this.
I found her through the good ol' US mail. Not an adoption forum or registry!
After I posted my message of anger...I took my searching to the white pages, so to speak, and actually found my birthmother.
So far it's been amazing.
She wasn't searhcing for me yet so all of my posts were useless and time consuming.
Good luck to you as well. If I can be of any help send me a private message.
Thanks,
Anne
