Beulah Home Edmonton Alberta

Hi, I'm a 49 year old adoptee, reunited, kinda, born in the Beulah Home in Edmonton, Alberta, just wondering if anyone else out there was and if you'd like to share any info that you have on it. I have some info, but was just wondering if there was more out there that one of you might have. Thanks, Boey

Hi Boey
I know this is an old post, but my great aunt was sent to Beulah Home in the early '40's I believe. She has told me a few stories about what it was like there. She has since reunited with her son.

Beulah Home Edmonton Alberta

Hi Tara,
Thanks for your post, I was hoping that someone that had been there in the mid 50's, Jan - Mar '55, might have answered. My birth mother was there then, I have found her, but she denies me, so I was hoping I might find someone that would have remembered her. If you are able though, I would love to hear about anything your aunt remembers. Thanks for your time, it's much appreciated. Boey :0)

Hi Boey,
My aunt has since reunited with her bson. I am sorry that your bmom is denying you. Bmom's from her era were told to forget and "move on". Not that they did that, but many didn't tell anyone after it happened, including my other aunt who also was at Beulah Home and gave birth to a little girl. She denies it ever happened. I'm sorry. Chances are you will have a hard time finding someone who knew your bmom as the girls were given "new" names and were forbidden to talk about their lives at home. The one thing that stood out from the stories my aunt told me about her time there was that the girls were made to care for their babies for two weeks after they were born as punishment for becoming pregnant out of wedlock.
I've been trying to find some information on Beulah Home in general...

Beulah Home Edmonton Alberta

Hi Tara, You have no idea what can of worms you have opened for me, I have been trying to find out who may have looked after me for the 16 days prior to my adoptive parents getting me. The PAR have been no help and neither were the archives, or the privacy people when I was asking for my summary of time and care. It would be huge for me to know that for the 16 days, my birth mother had looked after me. I have been unable to have confirmation on that, or if it were nurses in the that cared for me. As I have said my birth mother denies me, however I have met her, long story Tara, and we could email privately if you would like, I do belong to CCNM and saw your response there. Let me know, Tara it's the little nuggets that are so important. Thanks for your time, boey :0) ps I do have some info on the Beulah Home if you are interested, I also know of a fellow that was born there in the late '40's who has also been reunited with his birth mother.

Question Beulah Home

I am interested in how one would be able to find records for births at the Beulah Home in Alberta...I have tried most avenues available in Edmonton and was told all records were lost in a fire.

My mother had a son there, about 1954. Details are quite sketchy as she suffered a massive stroke and anneurysm before I found out about the birth and adoption. I have some personal info gleened from my aunt that mom did name the boy but they couldn't remember the date of birth. Any help as to the right direction I can pursue to get more information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Dee

Looking for Family

Hi,

I am looking for a distant family member that would have lived and been adopted from the Beulah Home in Edmonton in the Spring of 1950. I do not have a lot of information but I do know that my Grandfather helped pay for the baby boy to stay at the home and that my Great aunt was told never to speak of it. My aunt named him but she told very few people because it was just not discussed so we are looking for any info on the home or if there is anyone out there that may know how we can try to track down our lost family member. I know that this might not help you Boey but maybe you have heard of someone from this time or might have more information about the Beulah home.

Thanks.
Jordalee

Also looking for any info on beulah home

Hi my father was born at the Beulah home in Edmonton on Dec 13, 1944. He started searching and found some information and then got pressured from his extended adpoted family so he stoped. I've now restarted this search and am hoping to find out any info I can. My Father found as he believes his birthmothers name. He knows that she was 20yrs old when he was born, that she had one brother 15 at the time and 4 sisters, 24yrs, 23yrs, 18yrs, and 6yrs. As my fathers birthmom would be turning 84 this year I would like to find before she passes (if she hasn't already)

Any suggestions on how to start?

Hi,
Has your father applied for his adoption records from the Post Adoption Registry with the Alberta Govt? If you want to contact me privately I can give you some info. Marnie

I was born at Beulah Home in the spring of 1950 but have been reunited with my birth family. We have started a group on Facebook for people born at Beulah Home if you are interested in joining us there. I also have the Parent Finders data base so may be able to help you.
