St Faith's Tarrytown July 1968

Hello, My birth mother, Patricia stayed at St Faith's in mid to late 1968. I too was born at St John's in Yonkers. Are you having any luck? I have some fairly detailed non identifying info from the time. Looking forward to your reply, and or any info.

There's another thread on this topic, Ed - I too would like info on St. Faiths'-I was born at White Plains Hospital in '75 and have begun my search for my bio mom, I wonder if the home was open in that year. How'd you find out your mom stayed there? I've sent out for my non-Id info about a month ago but no word yet.

It's in this forum, entitled "any homes for unwed mothers in Westchester, NY in 1966?" Looks like someone posted there a few months ago lookig for people who stayed there in '68. Hope it helps Ed!

Lightbulb St. Faith's House 1973

I was there from April to August 1973. I believe my group was one of the last of unwed mothers before it became a children's home. It was not a bad place for what it was. The staff tried to make it as good an experience as it could be under the circumstances. My son was born August 2 1973 at St. Johns Riverside Hospital in Yonkers. Family Services of Westchester handled the actual adoption. I was not told much about the adoptive parents except they were unable to have children of their own and the woman enjoyed crafting. I have always regretted giving up my son but at the time I didn't think I had any other choice. I would love to hear from anyone who was at the home from any year.

St.Faith Maternity Home...

Hi Voni,
Your birthmother was most likely staying at St. Faith's also. A lot of adoptees who I have come in contact with over the years were born at St. Johns in Yonkers....incidentally, were you placed with a family from either Yonkers or Westchester County? And, do you know if you were adopted out of Westchester Social Services...which used to be called Westchester Adoption Services back in the day? Just wondering, I'm trying to see if there is a trend?

St Faiths was in Tarrytown; we gave birth at St Johns in Yonkers, and returned to Tarrytown for a total of 10 days after birth (hospital stay + St Faith's) until we could sign papers. I was there in Jan 1966. Counseling was done for me through Youth Consultation Services in White Plains, surrender was to Family Services of Westchester. They were supposed to be separate entities, but were in the same building and probably connected. Family Services policy was to place babies in Westchester, but for some reason, my daughter was placed in Rockland.

St. Faith's - Tarrytown, NY

Hi Brenda,

I was at St. Faith's during the very early months of 1963, and had my son at St. John's Riverside Hospital in Yonkers. That's were all the St. Faith's babies were born at that time.

Always searching

I was at St. Faith's from Sept. 1962 to Nov. 1962. I had a son on 10/29/62 at St. John's in the Yonkers, and gave him up for adoption after spending 10 days back at St. Faith's. My son was placed by an adoption service in White Plains, and since that moment of my life, I have been trying to find him. I feel I know all of you, does anyone know if records have been opened, or if there is a way to find our children?
God Bless

Born at St. John's 3/6/1972

I also was born at St. John's and stayed at St Faith's in Terrytown afterward. I was adopted into Westchester County and am looking for my birthparents. My birth name was Jennifer Anne. Has anyone been able to get information from either the hosptial or the home?

Thanks!
